It’s been a long while since I’ve posted anything to this blog. I would attribute that to the new job I’ve been trying to settle into - and I say job because at this point, I don’t exactly consider it a career move.

Enough about that…I want to get right into this.  I was reading through some blogs and other sites tonight and came across this little gem: Apple just gave out my Apple ID password because someone asked.  Brilliant!  I don’t even need to comment - although I will - for no other reason than I really enjoy taking shots at Apple.

Hey - Everyone - LOOK!  The new iPhone is set to hit the streets on July 11th.  3G capable, more overall features and a $199 price tag which is $200 less that the first generation phone.  WOOT!

But…and it seems with Apple there’s always a but… …there’s a catch.  Your shinny new iPhone will really cost you $160 more than the first generation phone.  That’s right, it’s $200 cheaper out the door, but Apple and AT&T have changed some of the rules with their voice/data plans.

Sheesh…it’s been a while.  I really can’t put a finger one what kept me from posting - but whatever it was, hopefully I’ll be back to posting fairly regularly.

Tonight while I was having a Insomniac moment (thankfully I have them far less than I have in the past) I found this article about Apple.  I don’t know why, but the article just strikes me as kinda funny - maybe it’s that I’m just not a PC kinda guy.  Maybe it’s I’m amazed that we’re at a point in society that any of this even matters.

Anyway, I’m off to sell my iPod mini - and buy some Dunkin Donuts coffee.

Sometimes I wonder if the people at Apple get it. Do they really get it.nycapple.pngapple.png

It seems Apple, in it’s ultimate wisdom has decided to register a federal challenge to a trademark request by New York City - you know, the place know as the Big Apple. It seems that Apple Inc. thinks that the new logo for the Big Apple’s new GreeNYC campaign is simply too similar to Apple’s logo.

According to Apple, the logos are similar enough to “seriously injure the reputation which [Apple] has established for its goods and services.” So Apple is basically saying that consumers are not smart enough to see the difference between a chromed apple with a bite out of it and a stylized apple with a leaf. Maybe a different look at the logos:

compare.jpg I’m still not seeing it. Even with the different GreeNYC logo, I’m still not seeing it. I’ll hand it to Apple - they certainly put a lot of trust in their customers to make a fight out of something like this to ensure that no Apple customer - current or future - will ever walk up to a GreeNYC promotion believing they’ll be able to purchase the latest and greatest Macbook Air Micro Touch Pro. And yes ladies and gentlemen, that was sarcasm.

I have to admit, today I really wanted to thrash Apple. Specifically the Apple Store in nearby Woodland Mall. A week or so ago my wife and I were just walking around the mall with nothing specific in mind. Being that I love technologies of any kind I generally gravitate to the Apple Store knowing full well my IQ will slowly be sucked through my right ear in their attempts at assimilation. When were were there I started to play around with the new iPod Touch -and I have to admit, it’s a nice little device. The touchscreen keyboard left a lot to be desired - I don’t care how intuitive it is, my fingers just aren’t that small. Anyway, while I was playing around with the iPod Touch, my wife was listening in on a sales pitch from one of their borg drones and I overheard a interesting tidbit: “Nope. You don’t have to worry about viruses. They don’t exist for the Mac.” Interesting. Granted, there aren’t many but there are viruses specifically written to attack Apple’s OSX - LeapA being the first. And it’s not as if OSX is the most secure Operating System on the market, it’s not if the recent security update from Apple is any indication.
